This is a photo of South Bend Blue Sox shortstop Lou (Stone) Richards. At the end of the 1945 season all league uniforms were collected and stored in a warehouse as was the norm in those days. The warehouse caught fire that year and destroyed all the uniforms held in storage. That is all but one. As it so happened, Lou's parents had never seen her play for the AAGPBL, so Lou borrowed one of the South Bend uniforms to show her parents when she went to visit them in Boston. Her uniform is now on display as the only original uniform from when the league first started.
