Another Michigan Favorite has Moved to The Promise Land
Eilaine Roth (1/17/1929 – 11/01/2011)
Eilaine May Roth, 82, of Springfield, MI, died November 1, 2011 at home. She was born January 17, 1929, the daughter of Herman and Elsie (Kumnatzke) Roth in Michigan City, IN.
Eilaine graduated from Elston Senior High School, Michigan City, IN and worked for Upjohn in Kalamazoo for more than 20 years.
She is survived by a brother, Harold (Alice) Roth of Michigan City, three nieces and one nephew. She was preceeded in death by her parents, twin sister, Elaine Roth, and sister, Althea Bancroft.
Eilaine enjoyed bingo and sports, especially baseball, as she was a professional baseball player with the All American Girls Professional Baseball League for the Peoria Redwings in 1948, 1949 and The Kalamazoo Lassies in 1950 and 1951. Eilane played both infield and outield and was a threat at the plate by reaching the bag or moving the players into scoring position when the game needed that extra run. She was often used as a pinch hitter and was known for here ability to lay down the perfect bunt.
Eilaine will be missed by all her former teammates and offer their condolences to friends and family.
