Profile Biography
Obituary
Betty was a 1948 graduate of Bolivar High School in Bolivar. After graduation she moved to South Bend to play professional baseball for the South Bend Blue Sox. She was a star pitcher and outfielder. She played for the Blue Sox from 1948-1952. Betty put her heart and soul into the game and loved every minute of it.
She was an avid sports participant, playing not only baseball but was a player-coach for a professional women's basketball, which traveled the country to play games. She also loved to golf and bowl. She was a big sports fan and loved watching baseball, basketball, and golf on TV, and was a loyal Chicago White Sox fan. Betty was a walking sports encyclopedia.
After her career with the Blue Box, she became an office supervisor for a major Corporation from 1952 to 1986. Betty was a member of a local church and sang in the choir.
Betty was an All-Star for the Blue Sox and is in the Hall of Fame in Lebanon, Missouri. She was recognized with her team in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.
