Eileen A. "Diz" (Burmeister) Dean, 65, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 1990 at the \Columbus Community Hospital in Fall River, WI.
Mrs. Dean was born Nov. 30, 1924 in Thiensville, Wis., the daughter of Oliver and Hilda (Laun) Burmeister. She was married to Harold Dean, Feb. 24, 1946, in Whitefish Bay, Wis.
She played professional baseball for the Rockford Peaches in Rockford, IL in 1943 and 1944. The couple owned and operated a tavern in the Mequon-Thiensville area. They moved to St. Germaine for four years before moving to Fall River in 1954. At one time she was employed by the Fall River District Schools and drove school bus for many years. She was also employed by the Fall River Foundry for two years. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fall River.
Survivors include her husband of Fall River; one son James Dean, Oshkosh; one sister Marjorie Hawthorne, Sarasota, FL; one brother Edwin Burmeister, Columbus, GA; and three grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
The funeral was held Feb. 5, 1990 at St. Stephen’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fall River with the Rev. David Babinec officiating. Burial was in the Fall River Cemetery.
