Hazel Marie (Measner) Wildfong, late of Craik, Sask., passed away suddenly, Tuesday, May 29, 1984 at the age of 58. Born in Holdfast, Sask., she lived there until leaving home to play softball in Regina, later playing professional softball, based in Chicago, IL for three years. In the interim, she was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. Hazel and her husband, Vernon, married in 1949, and lived in Oklahoma for 13 years before returning to Saskatchewan, where they farmed at Craik.
Predeceased by her parents, Hazel is survived by her husband, Vernon of Craik; daughter, son-in-law and granddaughters, Karen, Gerry, and Risa Payant of Rouleau; two sisters: Verna Measner of Regina and Ione Todd of Glenavon; two brothers: Nealand Measner of Holdfast and Lloyd Measner of Vancouver; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Hazel’s funeral service was held Friday, June 1, 1984 at 2:00 p.m. in Craik United Church. Interment followed at the Craik Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciated donations to the Craik Cummunity Hospital. Arrangements were in care of Lee Funeral Home.
