Mary Wood served two and one half years at Casablanca, Morocco in North Africa in the U.S. Armed Forces just prior to working out for the Muskegon Lassies in spring training of 1946. Ultimately, she ended up playing the entire 1946 regular season with Peoria as the primary left fielder. The following season she went to Kenosha and served as the lead-off hitter usually playing centerfield. I
