Barbara E. Thompson, 86, died as a victim of the covid-19 pandemic on Thursday, July 30, 2020, in Florida. She was born February 24, 1934, in Rockford, IL to Ralph Jay Thompson and Maybelle V. Chapman-Thompson.
As a member of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL), “Bobbie” played with the Rockford Peaches in 1951 and 1952.
She became a registered nurse, graduating from Rockford Memorial Hospital in 1955. She retired in 1996, and moved to North Fort Myers, FL in 2016.
Barbara was survived by her life partner, a nephew, a niece, a cousin, a great niece, and several great-great nieces and nephews. Barbara was predeceased by her parents, a brother, and her sister-in-law.
Her burial took place in Rockford, IL at a later date.
A memorial for Barbara was established at Hope Hospice of SW Florida, 9470 Healthpark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908.
