Mary F. (Holda) Elrod, 100 of Utica was carried home to Heaven by angels of the Lord on Wednesday, April 14, 2016.

She was born September 30, 1915, in Mansfield, daughter of the late George and Mary (Gladdish) Holda.

Mary was a very active member of the Church of the Nativity Catholic Church in Utica. Mary played baseball in the 1940s for the Blue Sox [of the All-American Girls Baseball League] at Bendix Field [in South Bend, Indiana].

Mary is survived by a niece and nephew, great nieces and great nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and great-great-great niece and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

The family had a Memorial mass at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Mount Vernon.

Law-Baker Funeral Home in Utica assisted the family with arrangements.
