Ruth Matlack was a good hitting pitcher. She learned how to play baseball from her father and started playing organized softball in the eighth grade. After high school, she played in nearby Norristown, Pennsylvania. Later, she went to a tryout for the All-American League for the 1950 season in Allentown and earned an invitation to go to spring training in Cape Giradeau, Missouri. "Matty" was known for her off-speed pitches which included a change-up and a "natural" curveball.

Ruth A. (Matlack) Sagrati of Bensalem (PA) passed away Friday, August 11, 2017 at St. Mary's Medical Center. She was 86.
Ruth was born in the Cornwells Heights section of Bensalem and was a lifelong resident. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with family. She worked for Ametek for 29 years as a shop supervisor.
Ruth will be sadly missed by her sisters. She is also survived by her sister-in-law and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her brother.
Relatives and friends were invited to attend her viewing at Tomlinson Funeral Home, Bensalem, PA followed by her service at 11 a.m. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial in her memory were suggested to be made to the Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia, PA.
