Vera graduated from Sturgis High School [Michigan] and was an outstanding athlete in High School and beyond. She was the Women's Champion Bowler in Battle Creek, Michigan, for years, setting many records which still have not been broken. She belonged to the "600" Club. She also was an excellent Golfer, making a "hole in one" (on the record) at the Riverside Country Club in Battle Creek. She rode a motorcycle in her younger years. She had a keen sense of humor and loved jokes (especially "dirty" ones). She was a beer drinker and a cigarette smoker. She was engaged once, but never married. She was a Bookkeeper for Post Cereals Credit Union.
